the instruments of Runabout @ BAZA Art Award 2011

Two of the Runabout project instruments are now on show at the Baza Art Award 2011 exhibition in the Sofia City Gallery. You can see the Trash Banjo and the Bergeron accordion on the second floor of the gallery until July 10 2011. Even though they did not win the Baza Award, they look so great in the gallery that it is worth visiting.

runabout project @ After Art

19th of december 2010 at 20:00h is the last show for this year. Albena Baeva and Segey Glinkov will improvise “Playing the Bergeron” at the bar After Art, str. Iskar 11, Sofia. Music, video and movement are united together in a single interaction through the custom bergeron-accordion made by Runabout. The improvisation between these medias happens simultaneously in real time. Samples are recorded during the performance, then mixed with the sound of a modulated melodica and visualized through a real time video. Every performance of the group is different and happens only once.

the bergeron experiment

The latest performance of Runabout project will be shown at Da-fest in 15th of september from 20:30h in gallery “Academy”, Sofia. The Bergeron Experiment is  inspired by the short story “Harrison Bergeron” by Kurt Vonnegut. Albena Baeva and Petya Boyukova team up with Andronia Popova, front-woman of Nasekomix. Bergeron Experiment features a custom-built electronic accordion and an interactive costume that provide a twofold channel for audio-visual interaction. By playing on the accordion the musician is able to manipulate the visual parts and vice versa – through the sensors installed into the costume the actor influences the music. “Burdened” by the possibilities of the unfamiliar expression form, music and visuals strive to find a common language and to communicate with the public in one voice.

Here you can find video and pictures from the project.
